Perm traveler Andrey Korolev opened new facilities in North America
Famous Permian traveler, associate professor of the geographical faculty of PGNIU Andrey Korolev returned with his team from the third expedition in Alaska. This time the travelers crossed 500 kilometers on skis, opened three new passes and for the first time climbed three peaks.

In the third trip to Alaska, Andrei Korolev set out on March 27 with his friends Igor Mokhov and Alexander Randa. The team skiing in the north of the state and reached the Eskimo village of Kaktovik on Barter Island in the Arctic Ocean.

"The district turned out to be very harsh, there were several nights when the temperature dropped to -40 degrees," Andrei Korolev says. - We had an electronic thermometer, and at -34.8 it froze completely. Then it turned out that it was three degrees warmer than it actually was - we compared it with Eskimo thermometers. On such a frost the first night, a rubber hose burst in a gasoline burner - gasoline fountain beat from a hole. I had to fix it right on the road - the second burner because of such a low temperature smoked strongly, so it was impossible to breathe.

During the expedition, scientists discovered three new passes - Canyon, Two Oceans, Lake - and three peaks - Mount Chamberlain North (2173 meters), Kelly ridge (2,100 meters) and Sadlerohit peak (1500 meters).

- Names are invented in such a way that it will be convenient for the next travelers who will go along this route, - said 59.ru Andrey Korolev. - The canyon leads to the top of the Canyon Pass, the second pass is called Two Oceans, because it connects the basin of the Arctic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The third pass was called Lake - there is a big lake under it.

According to Andrei Korolev, during the trip, tourists could meet elks, deer and wolverines. For safety, travelers were given a gun, but it was not useful. About the impressions the traveler will tell on May, 24th in the Museum of Permian antiquities at 19:00, admission is free.

Last year, Andrei Korolev overcame in Alaska on bicycles and skiing more than 1600 kilometers. Then Permyak devoted his trip to the 150th anniversary of the purchase of Alaska from Russia and the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Lend-Lease.
